Sing Their Name Choir Awareness Evening - Adele Owen
Sing Their Name Choir, founded by Adele Owen, will host a free awareness evening for people who want to learn more about its peer support for adults bereaved by suicide in Greater Manchester. The event will explore the role of connection, singing, and peer support after suicide loss, and is open to those bereaved by suicide, as well as people supporting others through this grief.
Beyond Family Tree Conference - Emma Beddall
Emma Tilley will deliver a keynote presentation at the Beyond the Family Tree: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on AI, DNA, Education and Community in Genealogy conference, hosted by the University of Strathclyde, presenting findings from her Churchill Fellowship research on how investigative genetic genealogy can help provide resolution for families of unidentified individuals.
Assistive Technology and Dementia Care - Bethany Linder
Bethany Linder will present Assistive Technology and Dementia Care as part of the Dementia Researcher Showcase series. Drawing on her Churchill Fellowship research in Japan, Bethany will explore how technologies such as robotics, virtual reality, smart homes, and artificial intelligence are being used to support people living with dementia. The session will examine lessons from Japan's approach to dementia care and consider how these insights could be applied in the UK.
The Elements 4 All: Traditional African Wisdom for Healing and Betterment - Erica McInnis
Erica McInnis will lead The Elements 4 All: Traditional African Wisdom for Healing and Betterment, a six-week online course running from 10th September to 19th November 2026. Rooted in traditional African wisdom and inspired by the work of Dr Malidoma Patrice Somé, the course explores themes of identity, grounding, transformation, and wellbeing through interactive sessions, reflection, and discussion. The programme offers a therapeutic, decolonising approach to psychology and is open to all.
Suicide Bereavement UK’s 15th International Hybrid Conference - Sharon McDonnell
Sharon McDonnell, Managing Director of Suicide Bereavement UK, is hosting the organisation’s annual international suicide bereavement conference, now in its 15th year. The event will feature international speakers from Australia and the USA, offering a platform to share global learning and developments in suicide bereavement support.
CORNWALLIS CLOTH - Tony Thompson
Tony Thompson's CORNWALLIS CLOTH, a powerful new film installation reframing narratives of war and uncovering untold stories of British Caribbean lives during the Second World War, premiered on 11 October at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Blending sound, performance, and archive, the immersive work explores themes of loyalty, freedom, and post-colonial identity, and is expected to run until late 2026.
