May 2026 Fellows' update: Mike Spencer
Mike Spencer (CF 2025) won the Innovator of the Year award at the Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards, recognising his work pioneering the use of Eurasian otters in UK search and rescue.
By Mike Spencer,
Jeannot Farmer ( CF 2023) worked in partnership with MAA Scotland (The Movement for an Adoption Apology Scotland) and Dr. Stella Bolaki of the University of Kent to deliver and take part in two artist's book workshops in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Following a meeting in February 2025, the First Minister of Scotland John Swinney committed to providing "an independent platform for those affected by historic forced family separation to share their personal testimony - should they choose to do so - so that their experiences are preserved". Books made in the workshops will contribute to a forthcoming exhibition, highlighting the importance of such a platform in Scotland, as well as illustrating how a range of modes of expression can contribute to a wider societal recognition of the harms inflicted.
Artists' books have contributed to testimony gathering as part of the Truth Recovery Programme in Northern Ireland.
