Five Top Tips for a Successful Churchill Fellowship Application

Five Top Tips for a Successful Churchill Fellowship Application

Considering applying for a 2024/5 Churchill Fellowship? We've put together five top tips to help you on your way.

1) Worldly-wise

We're all about Learning from the World. So, we advise really thinking through why it's important for your project to learn from overseas. What can you gain from your chosen countries that you can't from the UK?

Attend our application webinar on 12 September to learn about the key criteria for a Fellowship and what makes a strong application.

2) What's the Point?

We don't expect you to know exactly what impact your learning will have on UK citizens, but we do want to understand more about the change you want to make. Help us see your long-term vision.

Read through our latest blogs from Fellows to see how existing Fellows have fostered global connections and applied insights from their research to make an impact in the UK.

3) Shoe-horning

Don't overthink which programme is the best fit for your idea. Make your best judgment or choose 'Open'. If we think your idea stands a better chance in another programme, we'll move it and let you know.

Take some time to explore our current programmes to understand the range of Fellowships available.

4) Deadline Chasers

We all need a deadline, but don't wait until the last minute. Start your application early to give yourself plenty of time. The deadline for 2024/5 Fellowship applications is midday on Tuesday 12th November 2024.

Familiarise yourself with our sample application questions now to start formulating your responses well ahead of the deadline.

5) We're Here to Help

We know that this might feel daunting. If you need help, ask us! We can offer support with the application process. You can email us anytime, book a call with one of the team once applications open or join one of our Application Surgeries.

These are a series of 30-minute lunchtime sessions covering the most common queries about the application process. Register for the sessions on 16, 18, 20, 25, and 27 September.

Remember, we're here to support you every step of the way, so don't hesitate to reach out. Good luck!
