What is a Fellowship?

A Churchill Fellowship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the change you want to see. We will fund you to spend between 4-8 weeks meeting the innovators in your field anywhere in the world, in person or online, and then we will help you to make a difference in your community or professional sector in the UK. Who can apply?

Churchill Fellowships are open to all UK adult citizens, regardless of background, qualifications or age. We are looking for people with the passion and potential to make a real difference, from every part of society. We select up to 140 new Fellows every year.

Many Fellows have lived or learned experience of the issue they want to address and we recognise the authority and insight this brings. We prioritise those who would not receive funding from any other source. More

What we are looking for

We assess candidates for their future potential as changemakers, not their past record or status.

We look for projects that will tackle practical problems in UK society, based on successful innovations and best practice from overseas.

We offer Fellowships within our grants framework of universal themes which cover every aspect of society. Within each of these themes, we offer a programme of Fellowships that addresses a particular topical issue or challenge in the UK. Applicants are invited to apply into one of these programmes. More

How do I apply?

Application is by a simple online form that is available once a year when we are open for applications. Before starting, you should ensure that you meet our eligibility criteria for who we can fund and the kind of project we can support.

If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a more detailed proposal online, and invited for a short interview with our selection panel.
