Biography
When I undertook my Churchill Fellowship I was a Research Fellow at Imperial College, London, and had been modelling dispersal of radiation from the Chernobyl accident, but my interests in air pollution in Europe were wider.
My Fellowship enabled me to visit countries in eastern Europe to see the problems there just before the big expansion of the EU. It was followed up through the formation of the European Association for the Science of Air Pollution (EURASAP) network with various workshops and a European Commission (EC) project on the Black Triangle region, plus university exchanges about environmental studies.
I still work on air pollution modelling and policy applications, and am now Professor of Air Pollution Studies at Imperial College.
