I am CEO of Advice Support Knowledge Information and a former dancer. My Fellowship is about health and wellbeing, older people, social isolation, healthier lives and equality in the context of Caribbean dance activities.

I am interested in how Caribbean dance (folk and modern) sustains physical and mental health and how Caribbean communities use dance to keep older people engaged in civic participation and activism, reducing social isolation to keep them at the centre of their communities. I also wish to explore how dance enables interactions where ideas can be formulated and cultural movements developed that benefit older people.

I will use my findings to support a change in moving from exercise to music to a more inclusive form of movement or dance that also recognises the rich history of Caribbean dance, which is not taught to older people as part of their engagement in dance. I will also seek to create a new model of dance for older people that can be made available for organisations working with this age group.
