Biography

I am an experienced public sector leader, interested in collaboration across health, care and housing to promote environments where older people can live their best lives. The main topics of my Fellowship are healthy ageing, improved housing for older people and to promote independent living. This can be achieved by co-production and working with people to create services and environments that they want and value, challenging ageism and promoting ageing positively.

I will review how in Japan, Australia and New Zealand older people are supported from a policy perspective, the local service delivery and, importantly, what matters to older people in those countries as they age. Meaningful engagement is a key pillar in understanding the success of these countries in developing environments for their ageing population.

With over 25 years' experience in health, care and lateral housing I have dedicated many years to promoting prevention and working with people to enable independence. This research draws on my experience and seeks to inform key agencies in the UK how other countries are addressing the growing number of older people in their communities and share what is working for them.
