Biography

I lead the Wandle English Hub, funded by the Department for Education. I support schools across London to develop their phonics and early reading provision, their approach to oral language and rich Reading for Pleasure cultures.

I recently completed an MSc in Education Research Design and Methodology at the University of Oxford. I am a member of the Editorial Board for the Curriculum journal from the British Educational Research Association. I am currently researching representations of ethnic minority groups, LGBTQ+ identities and disabled characters in the children's literature used in Year 1 classrooms in state-funded schools in England, funded by the UK Literacy Association.

I am delighted to have been awarded a Fellowship which will allow me to research the use of artificial intelligence and educational technology to support the teaching of reading and the development of reading cultures in schools in Denmark. I am looking forward to learning from teachers, academics and industry leaders and disseminating findings back in the UK.
