Biography

I am the Founder and Artistic Director of Actively SeeK.I.N.G CIC, a creative arts social impact organisation that works with young black men from African and Caribbean backgrounds who consistently face challenges and barriers that affect their wellbeing and mental health. As a Laurence Olivier Award winner and a passionate academic, I believe that the creative arts can be a powerful catalyst for positive change in people and society.

In previous research, I adapted Isaksen and Tidd's (2006) 4Ps framework into a new tool for creative problem-solving in arts projects. This arts development framework consists of community (place), role model (people), communication (process) and identification (product).

My Fellowship investigates any potential link between this framework and school success, particularly in terms of the achievements and mental health of black male students around the world. The creative work we currently do is based on the 4Ps framework and Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre technique. My goal is to ensure long-term change for black boys in the UK by providing critical support for academic success and personal development.
