Biography
I am young, Asian British male, with ancestral roots from East Africa and India. I am an activist, children and families social worker, lecturer and researcher with lived experiences of the children's social care system from birth to the age of 16. I have served on youth advisory groups for research projects and I have extensive connections to UK and international social work, which has included leading a large-scale international research project. My work has been published in peer reviewed academic papers and book chapters and I have engaged in media publications such as a film for BBC Bitesize as well as regular podcasts and news articles. I am regularly asked to deliver keynotes based on areas of expertise including international social work, decolonisation, anti-racism, anti-poverty, LGBTQ+ issues, family group conferencing, lived experience, co-production and supporting young and new social workers.
I am particularly invested in promoting the core values of social work in social justice, human rights and equity and I look forward to continuing this work throughout my Fellowship to work with the Black care experienced community.
