The Finnish approach to music education

Workshop speaker and Churchill Fellow 2019

Richard Jeffries

Richard is a Music Educator and 2019 Fellow. His Fellowship, which took him to Finland, Canada and the USA, enabled him to visit schools and choirs to discover the impact high quality singing and music education has on learning. Since his trip, Richard has been campaigning to raise the profile of music in schools through presentations to head teachers, working with and training class teachers and implementing methods of teaching he observed on his travels. He is also in the process of developing an annual music conference to further his message that music is an essential part of every child’s education.
