Biography
I am an On-call Watch Commander with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. I have dedicated my career to protecting the public and responding to emergencies, while continuously seeking ways to improve what we do and how we do it.
As part of my MBA, I researched ethical leadership and decision-making in practice within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The research findings have inspired me to explore innovative solutions to the challenges faced by UK fire services. The Fellowship is a natural progression to this and aims to investigate leadership and cultural strategies to enhance on-call firefighting in the UK. As a female leader in a male-dominated profession, I bring a unique perspective to promoting inclusivity and developing effective team environments. I am passionate about exploring how we can transform on-call firefighting into an attractive, diverse and sustainable duty system.
By collaborating with a global community of firefighters who share similar challenges and passions, I seek to bring back local and national level recommendations to benefit the on-call firefighting profession and the communities we serve.
