I am a programmes expert at an international children's rights charity, researcher, and contributing author to the book Clever Girls: Autoethnographies of Class, Gender and Ethnicity. My passion lies in helping caregivers support children through experiences of racism.

Growing up as one of the only people of colour in a blended family in the UK, I navigated racism largely on my own. Research shows that caregivers often lack the awareness and tools to support racially minoritised children effectively and confidently in this crucial area.

Through my Fellowship, I aim to learn from parents, children and experts in South Africa and the USA about fostering positive self-image, belonging and resilience in children facing racial minoritisation. My goal is to identify concrete strategies and techniques for caregivers to draw on.

My Fellowship explores racism, child development, self-esteem, resilience, psychology, representation, heritage, belonging, safeguarding, parenting and allyship. Key concepts include racial minoritisation, racial socialisation, racial identity development and positive racial identity.
