This theme covers topics relating to encouraging innovation in the management of public emergencies of all kinds, from prevention to response and post-crisis recovery. Many Fellows have undertaken projects addressing this over the years including via our recent programme of Fellowships on emergency response which ran during 2019-2020.

Following his Fellowship, Christian Wiggin (CF 2019) helped establish the International Critical Care Paramedic Group (ICCPG), which hosted its first online conference in 2022 and is now launching a new website and planning a second conference in January 2025.

In the early hours of 14 June 2017, I was awoken by the sirens and looked out of my bedroom window to see Grenfell Tower ablaze. Even on that day I knew that our lives had changed forever. As a local resident and Church Worker at Latymer Community Church situated in the shadow of the Tower I was deeply affected by the fire. As the months turned to years, I felt that we desperately needed hope for the long haul and so I applied for a Churchill Fellowship.

Fellows' updates August 2024 Fellows' update: Herbert Klein
Herbert Klein (CF 2020) produced a film on disaster risk reduction in Indonesia for the Deaf Indonesia Project. His previous work helped establish the World Federation of the Deaf’s new Disaster Risk Reduction Expert Group, where he now serves as a member.
